In continuity with the two previous editions (2006 & 2007), the Parckdesign operation aims to open out a platform in Brussels and Belgium for the creation, development and promotion of contemporary urban furniture. This operation expects to arouse profound consideration of the urban landscape and the public space, which today must be equipped with durable and well thought out street furniture, in terms of material and technical innovations, creativity, functionality and suitability and respect for the environment.
In this context, the 2008 edition will particularly address the role that equipment can play in the specific context proposed: A green space in the city centre.
This is why we are offering you the following sites:
The call for entries takes place in two phases.
In the first instance, candidates are invited to design a prototype of the urban furniture intended for one of the three proposed sites. This phase is open to all, in so far as the conditions described in the requirements specifications are respected.
A professional jury will select 4 winners to which will be added 1 winner selected by a public vote.
In the next phase, the winners will realize the selected prototypes. This phase will be supervised by the Recyclart and Designed in Brussels teams. The prototypes produced will then be installed for a minimum of 3 years in the chosen sites.
For the first phase, you are required to present an estimate of the budget need for the construction of your prototype. This estimate must absolutely not exceed 10,000€ (Excluding VAT at 21%). Exceeding this sum is a reason for exclusion. The budget includes all expense items related to the production (Materials, any models, prototyping...) and transport of the furniture to the site in question (Brussels). The installation of the furniture in situ will be undertaken by Bruxelles-Environnement (IBGE), manager of the 3 sites concerned. Although expenses related to the placing and installation of the prototypes are not to be taken into account in the budget estimate, you must indicate an estimate of the predicted installation cost (Materials, estimated working time for installation according to the technical drawing provided in the file)
For the second phase, the five winners will thus have a budget of 10,000€ (Excluding VAT at 21%) for the construction and transport of their prototype.
In addition, a price is set at a fixed sum of 2,000 € per selective creator or collective as a reward for their talent and creativity.
A precise datasheet describing the maintenance of the furniture is to be provided at the time of its installation in the park.
The five winners will have the benefit for the construction of the prototypes of monitoring by Recyclart and Designed in Brussels.
Evelyne Huytebroeck, Brussels' Minister for Environnement and Tourism, and Brussels Environnement are happy to invit you for the inauguration of the 3rd edition of Parckdesign, on thuesday 10/07 from 6. More info
